Privacy policy

This policy covers aiq.llc, run by A.I.Q. Industries LLC ("AIQ Industries", "we") in Providence, Rhode Island. The short version: we collect very little, we don't sell or rent it, and we don't run ads.
What we collect, and why
- Visit statistics. Vercel Web Analytics records the page address (including campaign tags such as
?ref=), the referring site, an approximate location (country, region and city) and the device type, operating system and browser of each visit. It uses no cookies. Vercel says it tells one visit from another with a hash of the request that is discarded after a day, so visits aren't followed across days or across other sites. - Server logs. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) to run and secure the site.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address goes to our newsletter provider, Buttondown, which also receives the usual request details (such as IP address and browser). Open and click tracking is turned off, so we don't see whether you open our emails or click their links. We use your address only to send you our dispatches. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- The AIQ Advisor. If you fill in the Advisor at /advisor and press send, your answers, name and email are emailed to our business mailbox through our email delivery provider, Resend, so we can prepare for your call and reply. The website doesn't save them anywhere else: there's no database behind the form. With JavaScript on, nothing you type leaves your browser until you press send. With it off, your answers go to our server once to build the review page, and aren't kept. To slow down abuse, the server keeps your IP address in memory for about ten minutes. If you also tick the newsletter box, your email and IP address go to Buttondown (the IP helps it spot spam sign-ups), which emails you to confirm before you're subscribed.
- Booking a call. If you book a call, Calendly collects your name, email and anything you type into the booking form, and the call itself runs on Google Meet. We use it only to prepare for, hold and follow up on the call.
- Email. If you email us, the conversation is kept in our business mailbox (Microsoft 365) so we can reply and keep a record of it.
- Videos. Work-log entries may include an episode video. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; then the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com (without JavaScript, the link opens the video on youtube.com instead), and YouTube (Google) handles that visit under its own privacy policy.
What stays on your device
If you pick day or night mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device. The site sets no cookies of its own. Buttondown's and Calendly's pages, which you reach when you subscribe or book, may set their own cookies under their own policies.
Fonts
The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers, which see your IP address. Google describes how it handles that in its own privacy policy.
Who else handles data
Only the providers named above (Vercel, Resend, Buttondown, Calendly, Google including YouTube, and Microsoft), each to do the job described. Each has its own privacy policy. On our side, we don't sell, rent or trade personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses stay until you unsubscribe. Advisor answers, booking details and emails are kept as long as they're useful for the conversation or for business records, and you can ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailingcontact@aiq.llc. We'll reply as soon as we can, and within 45 days.
Children
The site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we start collecting something new, this page is updated before that goes live.
